Last night’s episode of Inside The K focused on mental health in Ireland.
As well as dealing with a loss inside the Garda community, the brave frontline Gardai showed how they aid members of the public who struggle with their mental health.
Following the intense and emotional episode, viewers took to Twitter to share their views…
The stark reality of front line services dealing with mental health laid bare on Inside The K last night. Respect to all trying to help. It’s ok to not be ok. #InsideTheK

Garda Gibney’s family were incredibly brave and generous in sharing the footage from her funeral. Really tragic episode tonight #InsideTheK

#insidethek has to be one of the best pieces of Irish television made in years. Unbelievable insight to what the guards have to deal with in each episode

Fair play to the producers of Inside The K to do an episode on mental health tonight. A tough watch but very much an eye opener with what’s going on in the country 👏 they’re human too #InsideTheK

#InsideTheK could be one of the best docuseries that has ever been produced in Ireland. Very powerful.

I said it last week, I’ll reiterate now. I have nothing but absolute respect and admiration for the Gardai. Such a mentally and physically draining job, which they’ve chosen to do. Chosen to help people, in the toughest times. Heroes. #insidetheK

#InsideTheK was a tough watch but a valuable insight into what Gardaí are dealing with everyday. The mental health system is failing these vulnerable people.

A difficult watch to say the least. But an honest account. #insidethek has really opened my eyes to how much more the guards do for our society, more than I could ever imagine. If you need to #talk don’t be afraid reach out and here are some useful numbers. https://t.co/egOMEcZwcC

Lot of people saying how grim the viewing was. This is the reality of what is going on in every community in this country every single day. Huge credit to @gardainfo for the work they do, but the questions must be asked again – #insidethek

Watching #insidethek and I swear to god you’ve to hold your hands up to the ones that are first out to suicide attempts or anything to do with mental health.
A lot of the time we forget that these people are the ones we’ve to thank for saving the lives of people we love.— S H A N N O N O B R I E N (@IsMiseShann) April 2, 2020
Well done to The Gaurds: #InsideTheK tonight for highlighting the importance for more crisis services in #mentalhealth and #SuicidePrevention in Ireland. They showed no one is immune but collectively we can preserve life!
