Last night’s virtual TV Choice Awards saw Normal People’s Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar Jones snubbed for an award, causing upset among many viewers.
The series itself, which was released April of this year, was nominated for Best New Drama, and Paul and Daisy were nominated for Best Actor/Best Actress respectively.
But sadly, there was no victory for the show or it’s cast, as Normal People was beaten to the mark by White House Farm.
Paul missed out on securing his award by Martin Clunes who plays the lead character in Doc Martin. Daisy lost to Jodie Comer for her portrayal of Villanelle in TV drama Killing Eve.
Although being nominated was a win within itself, much of the public were disappointed not to see the highly popular series walk away with an award. Taking to social media to express their upset some said:
I’ve watched @normalpeople at least once every month since it came out. @mescal_paul and @DaisyEdgarJones have the best chemistry I’ve ever seen on TV. I’m so glad this show is getting the recognition it deserves ❤️❤️❤️

While the Irish had little luck on the night, some of the big winners include The Morning for best daytime show and The Great British Bake Off for Best Talent Show.
