Last night, Lucy Kennedy’s emotional documentary, ‘Lucy’s Puppy Problems’, aired for the first time.
The mother-of-one recently adopted a gorgeous puppy of her own, who they named Riley, and she shared that she wanted to make the show to encourage more people to adopt. Hence the one-off documentary, which is all about rehoming puppies with new families.
Speaking with Ray D’Arcy on RTE Radio One Lucy recently shared how emotional making the documentary was “I was in bits. I actually wouldn’t consider myself to be necessarily a soft person but when it comes to animals and children that’s my weak spot.”
“Just seeing families, these are families that would have waited a long time to find the right dog and giving these dogs a second chance and witnessing that and yeah, I totally stole the glory.”
Viewers had nothing but praise for the show, with plenty taking to social media to share their praise.

Lucy’s Puppy Problems Is breaking my heart. We need legislation in place to stop puppy farming, with real consequences for those who do.
We also need to stop accepting the ‘I didn’t realise’ from buyers. #puppyproblems— Paula Hurley (@paulamhurley) June 1, 2021
Can’t deal with anything relating to puppy farms. People seriously need to open their eyes. Thanks @KennedyLucy for highlighting this. #adoptdontshop #PuppyProblems

Continuing to talk about the show, Lucy shared, “I took the puppies away from the DSPCA and went, ‘I want to rehome just to see their faces’. It is quite emotional because you’re watching these dogs get a second chance in life.
“I might have cried a few times behind the scenes and then Richard was really worried, he kept on checking my boot every time I would film because he knows I fell in love with everybody.”
