Vicky Phelan has shared an update on how her cancer treatment is going, revealing that she has finally received the ‘wonder drug’.
Earlier this month she moved to Maryland in the US to begin a cancer treatment trial after discovering the growth of new tumours.
She’ll be based over there for six months as she completes the treatment plan, which she hopes will shrink the cancer and help prolong her life.
Taking to social media to share her news, Vicky wrote, “And it’s going in….Today, I finally got the wonder drug, M7824 (it’s Pembro 2.0)
“Here’s hoping that this drug does for me what Pembro has achieved – a quality of life that has allowed me to really live my life and make memories
“Thank you to EVERYONE for your well wishes.”
This comes after Vicky shared an update with Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Show recently, sharing, “I went in on Tuesday for my first dose of treatment. I was anxious to get started but quite nervous.
“I had a scan when I got here and it showed things had deteriorated since my last scan at home in September, in addition to these three tumours they have doubled in size and I have two new tumours in my shoulder blade. At the same time I was glad I made the move because things will deteriorate further.”
Vicky is documenting every step of her journey – and we wish her continued luck.
