This is not a drill folks…Paul Mescal and Barry Keoghan are officially confirmed to portray two of The Beatles in an upcoming series of biopics.

Hurrah!

With that in mind, Sony Pictures announced there will be four films, with an April 2028 release date, directed by British filmmaker Sam Mendes.

Joining Paul and Barry is s Babygirl star Harris Dickinson, who will portray John Lennon, while Paul’s Gladiator II co-star Joseph Quinn will take on the role of George Harrison.

What a dream team!

This groundbreaking project is the first to receive full life story and music rights from The Beatles, Apple Corps Ltd, and the families of John Lennon and George Harrison for a scripted film.

Speaking at the CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas on Monday, which the cast also attended, Sam called the films the “first binge-able theatrical experience” as they will all be released “in proximity” to each other.

“Each one is told from the particular perspective of just one of the guys. They intersect in different ways – sometimes overlapping, sometimes not.

“They’re four very different human beings. Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply. But together, all four films will tell the story of the greatest band in history.”

“I’ve been trying to make a story about The Beatles for years,” he added.

Ringo Starr previoulsy let slip that Barry was set to play him, telling Entertainment Tonight at the time: “I think it’s great. I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many.”

When Ridley Scott was promoting his second Roman epic Gladiator II last year, he also revealed Paul was joining the Beatles project, telling an industry event that the actor was “actually stacked up, doing the Beatles next” so he may not be able to join him on his next film.

We don’t know about you, but April 2028 can’t come quick enough!
