Nicky Byrne has shared a sweet tribute to fans, family and his Westlife bandmates as the Twenty Tour comes to an emotional end.
The hugely popular Irish band have played to over 600,000 fans since kicking off the reunion tour last May, and now Nicky has revealed that the entire experience is something he will always treasure.
“And just like that The Twenty Tour has come to an end,” Nicky captioned the series of snaps from throughout the special time.
“To say we have enjoyed ourselves would be an understatement. The fans have been simply unbelievable!!
“This Reunion has been an incredible experience for myself and my family Georgina,Rocco Jay and Gia.
Nicky made the big decision to step down from his RTE 2FM radio show with co-presenter Jenny Greene to head back on tour, and says it was a difficult decision to make.
“Giving up my Radio Show in Ireland after five years on air to embark on this adventure was always going to be bittersweet, but celebrating 20 years of Westlife really was something quite remarkable.
“Nothing can ever surpass seeing the joy on my kids faces looking up at their Dad on stage doing my thing, that memory will be forever etched in my heart. I am a very lucky man.”
“From that opening night in May, we managed to complete a whopping 50 Shows around the globe, five months, covering both Hemispheres and performing to nearly 600,000 people. Truly amazing for the four of us.
“I will take away truckloads of memories from this tour, most notably seeing all of you having the times of your lives, dancing and singing all the songs, reliving our youth all over again! Sure Isn’t that what it’s all about!
“Hundreds of people made this tour happen, far too many to mention but a massive thanks to all of our wonderful crew – Creative directors, lighting guys, stylists, wardrobe, musicians, caterers, sound guys, truckers, pilots, security team etc who all worked tirelessly to keep the show on the road from city to city, country to country.
The Dubliner went on to thank everyone involved in the massive production, but gave a special mention to his bandmates and friends, Mark, Shane and Kian.
“I save the last Thank You and reserve a very special Hug to my 3 band mates, my brothers from another mother. The three I look over at during every show and think “only we know what this is really like” If Carlsberg did band mates.
“It’s been fun – it’s been grueling but it’s been fun! It’s been everything we’d hoped it would be and way more. Well done boys – we rocked the shi*t outta that. Be proud.”
Despite the shows coming to an end, the boys are rumoured to be heading back on a world tour in 2020, with Nicky dropping a major hint that the reports are to believed!
“That’s it, maybe we will do it all again sometime….” he teased.
Will we be seeing Westlife back on stage next year?!
