Tom Cruise had nothing but praise for Ireland, in particular, Irish people, as he recounted a trip to Ireland in the past.
The Mission Impossible star has frequented our shores on a few occasions previously and it seems that one experience, he had in Derry has stuck with him to this day.
The American actor recalled being blown away by the kindness of passerbys after he got a flat tire when travelling through Derry.
“I was just so impressed that people could be that friendly to pull over so quickly and offer to help a complete stranger.” he told Channel 16 News. “We were just leaving the city limits of Derry, Ireland when I noticed that we had a flat tire so I pulled over to the side of the road and we were about to call the car company.
“But then just a minute or two later there were two, maybe three cars that pulled over behind us and offered to put the spare on. So I let them.”
He admitted the kindness and selflessness he was shown in Ireland isn’t very common in L.A.
“I mean, I was just so impressed that people could be that friendly to pull over so quickly and offer to help a complete stranger.” he said. “You have to understand that this is something that would’ve never happened in L.A..”
“And they had no idea who I was before they pulled over. So yeah, that’s my story about Derry. It’s nice to know that there are still places like this in the world.”
We hope this means we can expect a lot more visits from the American star!
