Today FM broadcaster, Susan Keogh, has hit back at a Twitter user who questioned working mothers, in particular, herself.
The man wrote to her, suggesting that the newsreader shouldn’t have a job and a young child, and instead of letting him away with his comments, Susan penned an open letter.
“Dear brave man,” she said. “I got your message. The one where you pointed out that if I missed my 4 year old girl so much while I’m in work, then I should just give up my job.
“I like my job. It’s really important to me. Not saving lives important, I get that, but it’s important to me. I enjoy it. It makes me happy and content. And as a result, a better mom.”
The newsreader went on to discuss the almost double standards in society, addressing the fact that nobody ever points out what her husband misses when it comes to their child, but someone will always tell her.
“I miss bedtime most nights. Do you know how many people point that out to me? Too many. My husband leaves the house at 5 every morning. He misses ‘wake up time’ every day. Guess how many people point that out to him? You got it! None,” she said.
Susan then went on to explain to the “tosser”, that she feels guilty about being away from her daughter, but does what she does, to provide a better future for her child.
For some reason, we don’t think the Twitter troll will be attacking this broadcaster about her life choices ever again.
Bravo, Susan!
