2025 is here and that means that we should be grabbing life by the horns!
Are you looking to head away and experience something a little different? However, the calendar is looking fairly packed. Have you ever considered doing an out-of-Ireland day trip?
Here are our top three picks.
London

Flights to and from the UK are nearly constant from Ireland and the great thing is that the flight is super short.
We recommend spending the morning in one of the quarters in London such a Shoreditch or Nothing Hill. These have some amazing cafes and restaurants and the cutest markets. The vintage shopping scene is also chef’s kiss!
Later on, head into the city centre. Soho has every shop under the sun and you will also be near the main tourist attractions like Big Ben and the London Eye. What a day!
Flight Time Dublin – London: 1 hour 5 minutes
Brussels

Brussels is one of the best cities to visit in a day as you will have enough time to get everything done and it’s a place you don’t really need to spend any more time in.
Our top picks for Brussels are Antonium and Mini Europe. One ticket works for both! The main square in the city centre is absolutely stunning and from here you can walk to the EU headquarters.
If you do want to spend longer than a day trip here, we recommend heading to the neighbouring cities such as Bruges or Gent.
Flight Time Dublin-Brussels: 1 hour 40 minutes
Edinburgh

One of the most unique cities that is really right on our doorstep is Edinburgh. The flight is super short, usually inexpensive and nearly all Irish airports fly here. The bus from the airport to the city centre is also very reasonable.
If you plan well, you could definitely get everything done in Edinburgh during your day trip. Our top picks include Victoria Street (for the Harry Potter fans of course), Holyrood House and The National Museum. One thing to be prepared for is a lot of uphill walking (it’s worth it).
