It is an underrated and often overlooked destination. However, Budapest is at the top of our list for a city break this year.
Budapest is one of the most diverse city breaks. Whether you are looking for a wholesome couples holiday or a girl’s trip, the capital city of Hungary has it all.
From the 17th of November until the 1st of January, the city turns into a festive wonderland where you can explore Budapest’s Christmas markets. The streets are filled with stalls of traditional Hungarian delicacies and handmade souvenirs. Chimney cakes are sure to be served at every corner.
Budapest’s infamous thermal baths are not to be missed during this time of year. The heated indoor and outdoor pools and the spa facilities provide the ultimate relaxing experience. (Don’t mind if I do!)
You won’t be feeling hungry in Hungary as the city of Budapest is full of “must try” food spots. From luxurious New York-inspired cafes to aesthetic, Insta-worthy restaurants, there is plenty of choice for every taste and budget – your money can go a long way here.
Budapest also has a super easy-to-use metro and tram service which makes getting around the city cheap and efficient. Just remember to validate your tickets!
If you’re coming to Budapest, don’t forget your dancing shoes as one last thing we have to mention about Budapest is its nightlife. Szimpla Kurt, the most famous ruin bar in the city, is a place that everybody has to experience once in their lifetime. Trust us, even the TikTocs don’t do this bar justice, it’s crazy. If you want to keep partying until the sun rises, the city’s nightclubs stay open until as late as 6 am.

Dark academia lovers pay attention as Edinburgh is calling your name. This unique city is the epitome of aesthetic coffee shops, dimly lit streets and cosy pubs. Everything you want during this time of year.
The unusual architecture here is something a visitor can only be in awe of. Every building is a reflection of the city’s history dating back as far as the Middle Ages. With stunning narrow streets and hidden gems around every corner, Edinburgh is a city you wouldn’t mind getting lost in.
Fans of Harry Potter better get excited as Edinburgh’s infamous Victoria Street may be the closest you will get to a walk down Diagon Alley. Being the city where J.K Rowling wrote the book series, it was a major influence for her and Edinburgh has become extremely associated with the franchise.

Krakow is an all-rounder city, one that we highly recommend for any time of year. However, Krakow during Autumn and Winter is something special.
It is amazing how far your budget will get you in this city. Krakow has the best value in regards to accommodation, food and activities. The most fabulous hotels can be found for a fraction of the price that you would find in Ireland.
From museums of illusions to outdoor ice skating rinks, Krakow has the most fun activities.
If you are interested in learning about some of Poland’s most significant history, we highly recommend booking a trip to Auschwitz Birkenau concentration camp. It is an hour bus journey away and can be booked online. While it can be an emotional experience, it’s an important one.
Everyone is in the shopping mood at this time of year and Krakow is by no means short of all of our favourite shops!

Krakow Christmas markets are renowned for their excellent food and excellent prices. The city’s central square, Rynek Glowny, becomes a Christmas paradise. Mulled wine anyone? Well from the 29th of November to January 1st the markets will be in full swing and you might even see some snow!
