Irish actress Caitriona Balfe has said that she is ‘thoroughly shocked’ after receiving a Golden Globe nomination.
The star is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Series – Drama for Outlander.
Also nominated in this category is Elizabeth Moss for The Handmaid’s Tale, Sandra Oh for Killing Eve, Julia Roberts for Homecoming and Kerri Russell for The Americans.
Taking to twitter to react to the news, Caitriona said: “Wow, thoroughly shocked and completely ecstatic to hear I am among the nominees for this years @goldenglobes A HUGE thank you to the HFPA for their continued support and a HUGE congratulations to Julia, Elizabeth, Sandra and Keri, I am beyond proud to be in your company.”
She added: “But, mostly, thank you to my incredible fellow actors and the wonderful team of writers, producers and crew on @Outlander_STARZ that push me to my best.”
Irish produced film The Favourite is also nominated for five awards including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Screenplay.
The film was produced by Ed Guiney and Element Pictures.
