We’re sad to see it go, but today rounds up another year of music and fun at Electric Picnic. Festival goers will return home from Stradbally today after an epic weekend full of craic.
Fear not however festival lovers, only out of the place a wet day and it’s been announced that Electric Picnic 2017 tickets will be on sale from this Friday, the 9th of September.
Organiser of the festival, Melvin Benn, announced the news at a press conference yesterday afternoon.
“They’re going to go on sale on Friday morning at nine o’clock.
“We definitely don’t want to make it any bigger, absolutely staying exactly the same: 55,000 people,” he said.
There were some pretty epic moments from this year’s festivities, particularly Hozier’s surprise appearance on the main stage. Of his favourite moments, Melvin said that The Chemical brothers were fantastic, as was Cathy Davey and Anachronica.
“Chemical Brothers on Friday night was pretty amazing. I thought it was an extraordinary set. Cathy Davey doing the launch of the album on the Hazelwood there on Friday night – that was unbelievable.
“Anachronica any time after one o’clock in the morning is insane.
“The RTÉ Orchestra! Jesus! That was unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable. I don’t know how many people saw that. That was just fantastic.
“RTÉ took a bit of a chance on it, nobody knew whether it would be the right thing or the wrong thing . . . it was definitely the right thing. It was amazing. Hopefully that’ll come back,” he said.
We can’t WAIT for next year!
