Doireann Garrihy admitted she didn’t lose any sleep over rumours her new boyfriend had a girlfriend until he began dating her.
Rumours surfaced last month after a series of Whatsapp voice messages were released in which a girl told a story which claimed Doireann’s boyfriend left another woman for her.
Doireann and boyfriend Joe Melody denied the story and took to Instagram stories to clarify that there was no truth to it, with an email for the woman confirming it was not too.
Just as the rumour came out, Doireann was getting ready to begin her new role as presenter on The Podge and Rodge show.
“The timing was a bit, I suppose it was bad,” she told The Irish Mirror.
“But it was also maybe good that I had something else massive to focus on.”
She added: “It was the first week of Podge and Rodge and so I was like ‘eye on the prize I just need to nail this’ and rise above the rumours.”
The comedian and presenter added that thankfully it was quickly shut down.
“And it has gone away since and sure people just, it has blown over and I knew it would.
“I had always learned, even from my sister Aoibhin, if something like that happens it is always going to be old news in a couple of days and thank god it was.
“And the fact there was just zero truth, in it, you know people were like to me ‘could you not sleep at night?’ and I was like ‘well actually I could sleep fine’ because it was just so wild.”
The star is keeping very busy with her job as host on Podge and Rodge, her new Doireann Project series soon to be released, radio work and lots of interaction with followers online.
