While it’s officially been spring for a few weeks now, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s still winter.
You’ll be happy to know that the weather is finally set to pick up this week, with some sunshine and warmer temperatures.
The change in weather kicks off later today, but only in some parts.
While the morning will be rather cloudy at first it will gradually break and some sunshine will develop.
Most places will be dry but there will be some rain in the west and south.
On west coasts, the rain will be heavy at times. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees, though a bit cooler on the western coast. It will become quite windy with fresh to strong southerly winds.
On Thursday there will be cloud and mist at first but it will become dry in the morning with some sunshine.
Met Eireann said: “Top temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees, but cooler again near western coasts. Fresh south to southwesterly winds will moderate in the afternoon.”
Friday is set to be a day of bright dry weather with a few light showers in parts of west Ulster and north Connacht.
Top temperatures on Friday will be 13 to 17 C.
The weekend is set to be warm during the day Saturday, turning showery on Sunday.
There will be early mist and fog on Saturday soon clearing, with sunny spells developing. It will become warm but humid, with top temperatures of 15 to 18 C.
In the afternoon and evening, these temperatures will set off some heavy showers quite widely, with a few thundery downpours possible in places. It will be misty overnight, with some further heavy locally thundery showers for a time. The temperature will reach lows of 9 to 11 C. with light variable breezes.
On Sunday some rain or showers during the morning and generally cloudy and rather misty. It will be drier and brighter in the afternoon and evening, with occasional sunny spells. There will be highs of 12 to 15 C., over Ulster and Connacht, but 16 or 17 C., elsewhere.
