It turns out that the world of royalty and Irish celebrity is more closely connected than we might have thought…
And Rosanna Davison has just discovered she’s part of it.
Yes, according to the Irish Star, genealogical research has revealed that Prince William and Kate Middleton share a distant family link with Irish singer Chris de Burgh, who hails from County Wexford and just so happens to be Rosanna’s dad.
Kate’s family tree has long been known to trace back to Ireland and the de Burghs, but it’s now believed Prince William shares that same ancestral line.

Adding another twist to the family tree, William and Kate are themselves distantly related and are said to be 14th cousins.
Rosanna recently reacted to the revelation herself, reposting the article detailing the family connection on social media.
“This news wasn’t on my 2026 bingo card,” she joked, clearly amused by her newly discovered royal roots.
Chris de Burgh’s mother, Maeve Emily de Burgh, was the daughter of General Sir Eric de Burgh, a British army officer who served as chief of the general staff in India — a lineage that also ties into Kate Middleton’s well-documented Irish ancestry, making the Princess of Wales a distant cousin of the Wexford-born singer.

Chris de Burgh’s royal link was first revealed in 2013, and the singer admitted he was unaware of the connection at the time.
Speaking about the discovery, he said he had no idea the de Burgh family shared ties with the Middletons, joking that it would at least make for interesting conversation should they ever share a cup of tea.
Who would have thought the Irish model and TV personality had such a close connection to the House of Windsor?
Safe to say, this is one family link none of us saw coming.
