The 2017 nominees for the IFTA Rising Star Award have been revealed, and the competition is fierce. The Irish Film Board and Irish Film and Television Academy announced the news earlier today.
The nominees have been selected based on how well they’ve developed their craft (directing, writing or acting) in the early years of their career, and how they have excelled in their specific field.
The talented creatives named on this year’s list are Can’t Cope Won’t Cope star Seana Kerslake, The OA’s Patrick Gibson, Love/Hate’s Barry Keoghan and filmmaker Peter Foott whose feature debut came on The Young Offenders.
Speaking of the huge accolade, Chief Executive of IFTA said, “This important award showcases four superb Irish talents who have proved themselves to be world class professionals in their fields and leading Irish creative professionals to spearhead and continue Ireland’s golden era of filmmaking into the future.
“IFTA is proud to showcase Irelands Rising Stars and acknowledges the partnership with the Irish Film Board across this award supporting new Irish industry talent.”
The IFTA’s take place on the 8th of April, at Dublin’s Mansion House.
