Christmas is just around the corner and there is nothing like a Christmas movie to get you and your loved ones in the festive spirit.
Richard Curtis’s newest movie That Christmas is coming to Netflix this festive season.
Here’s everything you need to know.
Who’s behind it?
Well, the movie was directed by Simon Otto, who has worked on the animation of movies that we are all familiar with such as Flushed Away, Bee Movie and Kung Fu Panda.
Simon has also directed several TV series. The movie was written by romcom king Richard Curtis and Peter Souter. It stars the likes of Brian Cox, Fiona Shaw, Jodie Whittaker and Lolly Adefope to name a few.
Ed Sheeran is also getting a very exciting feature in This Christmas as Curtis asked him to write a song for the movie. The song is called ‘Under The Tree’ and has already been released.
Curtis said: “It’s a real thrill to make my music video directing debut with my dear friend Ed Sheeran. I hope I’ve done justice to his gorgeous song.
“It’s lyrically magical and it unlocks a critical moment in the film for us. Suddenly you feel all these layered emotions that go beyond what is seen on screen and you are filled with longing and hope.”
What’s it about?
This Christmas is an animated movie based on the trilogy of children’s books written by Curtis himself.
The movie follows a series of interesting tales about friends and family and Santa Claus (Cox) making a big mistake!
When things turn upside down coming up to Christmas, the residents of a charming seaside town including Shaw (Ms. Trapper), Whittaker (Mrs. Williams), and Bill Nighy (Bill) must do everything that they can to save the season.
When can we see it?
This Christmas will be in selected cinemas from the 29th of November, however, you don’t have long to wait to watch it from the comfort of your home as it will be available on Netflix from the 4th of December.
