Thalia Heffernan was violently robbed last week as she was walking through the city centre. Now, the Dublin model is terrified to walk the streets alone.
Speaking to The Herald today, Thalia said, “You do feel a bit lost. I walk around town a lot because I live in the area, so it’s easy. Now, I’ve been getting unnecessary taxis and buses.”
Her attack is still affecting her, as she’s been physically hurting a lot this week.
During the week, the model tweeted, “Anyone know any good dentists? I’m in horrific pain since what happened last week, getting worse by the day! Haven’t slept a wink…#Help!”
Despite being clearly shaken by the events, Thalia has been overwhelmed by the support of her friends.
“A lot of people have shown their support. Some really good people like Vogue Williams and Eoghan McDermott have been good to me. It’s amazing the kindness that people show,” she said.
She went on to explain that her friend and fellow model Holly Carpenter has been her rock through the whole experience, and even brought her to the garda station after the initial attack.
“[Holly] is a sweetheart. She’s always there for me,” she said.
Thalia is warning others to be careful on the streets, in a bid to avoid the same thing happening to others as it did to her.
“Please, please, please warn your friends and family. Especially, but not soully, anyone young or particularly vulnerable. Stay in groups at night and in the early hours of the morning, and if at all possible, avoid wandering the streets at all.
“I was on my way to work. I wasn’t under the influence, I was simply walking in my gym gear to a show and they caught me off guard. It could happen to absolutely anyone, and I’m telling you now they show no mercy,” she said on Facebook.
