Following Tesco’s recall on batches of their ‘Tesco Cheeses of Ireland’ Wicklow blue yesterday, SuperValu have now issued a similar warning to their customers.
SuperValu are asking anyone who purchased the Wicklow Blue cheese that was cut and packed in store to be vigilant as some batches are feared to contain the harmful Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.
The bacteria is known to cause infection, and can be particularly dangerous for pregnant women, the elderly, and those with a weakened immune system.
Any customers who bought this cheese with the sell-by dates of the 21st, 22nd and the 23rd of February are being urged not to consume it, to return the product to the SuperValu store that they bought it in.
A statement from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland read, “As a precautionary measure, SuperValu is recalling the above batches of Wicklow Blue, due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.
“SuperValu is issuing point of sale recall notices requesting customers who have bought the implicated batch not to consume it.”
