Style Secrets with Natasha Rocca Devine: “Dress for yourself, not trends.”

We’ve been digging through the closets of our fave celebs, finding out the secrets behind some of their most iconic looks. From where they get their inspiration, to their favourite places to shop, we’ve asked the stars all the burning questions you’ve ever wanted answers to.

This week VIP caught up with author and interior designer, Natasha Rocca Devine.

What’s your most worn piece of clothing?
I have a few green dresses on rotation! I love the colour and it suits all occasions!

Tell us about the most sentimental piece in your wardrobe?
A cream designer trench coat jacket from my grandmother Maureen Rocca who has passed away. She was one of the most understated yet, glamorous people. I cherish her style and influence in my life.

You have five minutes to get ready for a night out. What is your go-to outfit?
A dress, blazer and stilettos with some gold jewellery.

What are the staple pieces you think should be in everyone’s wardrobe?
A white shirt, a turtleneck and skinny jeans, a classic blazer and a little black dress. Oh and gym leggings and sweaters for casual wear.

What are your staple pieces for a holiday wardrobe?
Bikinis, a good swimsuit, day-to-night summer dresses, shorts and a white tank top. I also pack pashminas and a beach bag with some stylish sandals.

Tell us about your biggest investment buys.
I like to invest in blazers, large handbags and heels, which I wear most often. I’ve invested in Chanel blazers, Louis Vuitton laptop bags (I never use small bags) and classic Christian Louboutin black heels.

Are there any outfits/trends you regret wearing?
I had a pair of Uggs I never really wore. I think they were perfect for that time but they aren’t really my style.

What’s your favourite brand to shop with?
The Outnet and Net-A-Porter for online shopping. & Other Stories for once-off dresses and jackets and Zara for affordable luxury. I adore Irish designers, in particular Louise Kennedy. I like Costume Boutique, which is beautiful for accent jewellery and perfume such as ROADS. I shop for vintage in Siopella – a wonderful way to invest in designer pieces.

What’s been the best style advice you’ve ever received?
My mum was a model and is one of the most stylish and classy people I know. She always taught me to dress for yourself, not trends. Sexy is in your confidence, not showing skin. Wear clothes that suit you and you will always get it right.

What outfit makes you feel the most comfortable?
A pencil Victoria Beckham ROW dress, pointed black heels, with a cream trench coat or blazer.

What is your next buy/what are you lusting after?
I would like to invest in a new Stella McCartney Falabella reversible tote, as I like eco design and this is practical- I can use it for work and evening wear.

Who is your biggest style icon?
Jackie O – I love her style and old school glamour, her look hasn’t dated.
