Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, and if you too have forgot to plan something, there’s no need to panic.
Here are five ideas for last-minute date nights that should please even the trickiest partners.
Grab M&S’ excellent dine-in deal
You don’t need to go out to be well fed this Friday. M&S’ special Val-day deal includes a starter, mains, dessert, a box of chocolates AND a bottle of wine for just €25. Obscene savings.
Separate to the dine-in treats but also very Valentine’s-appropriate are the heart-shaped pizzas and eh, ‘love sausages’ (heart-shaped sausages wrapped in bacon, pictured above), which you can pick up in store now.
Look at the stars at an observatory
If you wanna get super romantic, bring your beloved to Armagh Observatory and try to spot Betelgeuse, a star that is especially visible in February (book your tickets here). Couples in Cork can gaze into the cosmos together at Blackrock Castle Observatory. Honestly, very sweet.
Go for boozy hot chocolates in Dublin’s first tiki bar
Kraken Rum is popping up at Ohana on Harcourt Street this Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5-8pm, serving complimentary up rum-infused hot chocs. We have tried them and can confirm they are DELICIOUS.
Walk with the animals at Dublin Zoo or Fota
If you’ve got tomorrow free, Fota Wildlife Park in Cork is offering a 2-for-1 deal for couples between 10am and 3pm. Dublin Zoo, meanwhile, is doing a full Valentine’s Day package including entry for two, a sweet treat and a hot drink, a souvenir photo keyring and a cuddly toy. Plus, the zookeepers will be doing talks focusing on courtship and romantic rituals amongst the animals! Ahhh.
Or a movie night in The Morrison
This Saturday and Sunday, The Morrison on Dublin’s Ormond Quay will host a Valentine’s Movie Night. From 6pm, they’ll be screening Pretty Woman and serving up delicious grub, plus a special cocktail. The package is €60 per couple, but we think it’s the perfect Galentine’s date too.
