After two years of hosting the popular morning show Ireland AM, presenter Síomha Ní Ruairc has announced that she’s stepping back from her role on the show.
Síomha is the co-presenter of the show’s weekend edition, along with Elaine Crowley and Martin King.
“After two amazing years I’m taking a step away from Ireland AM. Between the early starts and the other projects I’m working on, it’s the best decision for me right now,” she wrote.
A huge thank you to the dedicated, driven and super supportive team behind the camera! The talented and magical hands of hair & make up. The legends on the floor & in the gallery, our supremely generous and entertaining contributors – and of course mo leathbhádóirí – Martin and Elaine, who I’ve had the best time with and learnt so much from.
“Will miss the singing, laughing and camaraderie. I’ll still be on your screens lots in the next few months – and have an announcement on my next adventure coming very soon…”

Many colleagues and friends supported Síomha in the wake of her announcement.
Elaine Crowley commented: “Going to miss you so much, who’s going to harmonise our silly songs now?@martinkingpresenter just doesn’t have the notes…”
“So excited for your next chapter, both on and off the screen. Le Gra mo chara (I can’t find my fadas!)”
Despite her decision to leave the show, Síomha will still be keeping herself busy. She hinted to fans that she is working on more on screen projects.
“Will miss the singing, laughing and camaraderie. I’ll still be on your screens lots in the next few months – and have an announcement on my next adventure coming very soon…” she teased.
The presenter is also expecting her first child with her husband, UFC fighter Cathal Pendred. The couple got married at Lough Eske in Donegal in June 2024, and this summer they announced that they were expecting.
In an Instagram post, Síomha wrote: “Leanbh nua ag teacht ar an saol mí Eanáir 2026.”
