Brian Kennedy has shared a wonderful health update, revealing he is cancer-free.
The singer was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2016, but after surgery and intense chemotherapy, he’s now in the clear.
After undergoing a few more tests at the beginning of the year, doctors in St James’ Hospital had nothing but good news for Brian.
Taking to social media, he beamed, “Just got confirmation over the phone from the incredible team at St. James’ Hospital, that my recent scan is 100 percent clear. I will now get scans only once a year going forward.”
He continued, “I feel so lucky and hugely relieved because I’m well aware that there are those not so fortunate. Today is a good day. Onwards.”
Brian previously opened up about the difficulties surrounding cancer treatment, and how it impacted him.
“I had to learn to walk again, I had to do all these things,” he said on Cutting Edge.
“The weeks after the surgery were horrific, I had terrible nightmares from the drugs and all that sort of stuff.
“At the same time there is a realisation that I’m alive. I’ve gotten through it, I’ve gotten the best medical treatment there is in the world. The people in James’ Hospital are an army of angels.”
