Sinead Burke has penned a new children’s book, Break the Mould.
The story, aimed at kids over the age of eight but perfect for adults too, showcases the importance of diversity.
Following the a lack of such books when she was young, the activist wanted to produce something which would bring people together.
Taking to social media, Sinead said, “Some of my favourite places are bookshops and libraries – the possibility of escaping to a new world, or learning about a different experience has always been a haven.
“Yet, few of these stories have reflected my experience and my body. It’s something I’ve been aware of since I was a kid in school and ran my fingers along the spines of the books in my classroom library.”
She continued, “When the book doesn’t exist… you should probably write it.
“Break The Mould is a reflection on the ways in which we are all different and essentially, we are enough as we are. It encourages the reader to believe in themselves and see that anything is possible.”
The book will be available from all our favourite bookshops nationwide and online, from October 15th.
