Síle Seoige has just announced the happy news that she’s expecting her second child. The Irish TV presenter was on Instagram Live this afternoon when she revealed the news that she’s pregnant!
This is Síle and her fiancé Damien O’Farrell’s second child, as they are already parents to a little boy Cathal, who is almost four.
Síle was visibly emotional sharing the news this afternoon and said, “Anyone who has been following me for a while knows the past two years for me, on a personal level, have been challenging because I’ve gone through two miscarriages.”
“My news is that I am pregnant. I am sixteen weeks, I am feeling overjoyed. At the moment there is a lot baby news on Instagram, which is beautiful, but I also know what it’s like when it’s something you want yourself.”
“I didn’t expect to be this emotional. I’m so happy and feeling so lucky but it hasn’t been an easy road.”
She continued; “I wanted to say this for a while but the time didn’t feel right.”
“I know it can be hard to see scan images, or bump images so I’ll be very mindful of what I post going forward. Huge love, especially to those of you who need it.”
Earlier this year Síle made a documentary on pregnancy loss for TG4 and was joined by Rosanna Davison on the show, who has also been open about suffering a number of miscarriages in the past.
The hour long doc had the aim of helping women overcome those feelings of guilt as well as tackling the silence and stigma that surrounds the topic of miscarriage.
Speaking about it at the time Síle said; “This was a challenging but important project to work on as I really feel the culture of silence and secrecy surrounding miscarriage needs to end. It helps no-one.”
Congratulations to Síle and Damien on their wonderful news!
