Sharon Horgan has given fans a first glimpse at her latest project — and it’s already sparking conversation.
Taking to Instagram, the Bad Sisters creator shared the official trailer for The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, a gripping new drama inspired by the real-life story of Amanda Knox, who was wrongfully convicted of the tragic murder of her roommate, Meredith Kercher, in 2007.
Sharon plays Amanda’s mother, Edda Mellas, and has now shared her thoughts on how her story shines a light on how women are negatively portrayed in the media.
“Hope you can watch this,” she wrote alongside the trailer.

“It’s inspired by the story of Amanda Knox, who was wrongfully convicted for the tragic murder of her roommate, Meredith Kercher, and her journey to set herself free.
“If you’ve ever questioned the portrayal of women in the media, especially young women who dare to have a sexuality, then this will be eye-opening,” she added.
“At a time when the world is constantly dealing with the impact of misinformation, the show explores how bias shapes narratives.”
Amanda, who also serves as an executive producer, uses the series to bring her perspective to the screen, following the publication of her memoir and her involvement in a Netflix documentary.

Grace Van Patten takes on the lead role in the series, stepping in after Margaret Qualley had to bow out due to scheduling conflicts.
Qualley, however, remains attached as an executive producer alongside Monica Lewinsky.
According to an announcement reported by IFTN, Sharon’s role will be that of “a desperate but optimistic mother.”
“Their deep bond is challenged by Amanda’s imprisonment, but Edda’s unwavering love for her daughter propels her as she fights for Amanda’s life.”
The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox premieres August 20 on Hulu
