Sharon Horgan appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show last night to talk about her new show, Divorce, but the conversation quickly changed topic when she walked her self into an innuendo about meat.
The Irish actress appeared on the show alongside Matt and Luke Goss, Alan Davis, and Russell Brand -but ended up stealing the limelight after suffering an embarrassing, self-inflicted innuendo joke.
She began telling the story of how she started eating meat again after being a devout vegetarian for 16 years -but the men on the couch took her anecdote in a very different way.
“I started eating meat again when I was 32. Oh God, I was going to say before I met my husband,” she said. “The reason why I remember, it was part of our courtship.”
Once she realised how the sentence sounded she attempted to redeem herself.
“What I mean is, in Ireland, there wasn’t a lot of good meat on offer in the 70s. There was a lot more meat available in London.”
Admitting the defeat, she finished with the brilliant line, “I used to go into supermarkets and stand in the cold meat aisles and just kind of be turned on.”
This is why we love Sharon!
