During a quick trip back to Dublin from her home in Madrid, Sharon Corr chats to Michelle Dardis about life in Spain, skincare secrets and taking to the stage with her siblings, as The Corrs reunite!
Sharon it’s so nice to see you, welcome back to Ireland! How are you keeping?
Very good, thanks! I just flew into Dublin last night and have to leave again tomorrow to get back to my kids so it’s just a very quick visit. Normally I’d like to meet up with friends and have a glass of wine, but I just won’t have the chance this time. But I do really like the comfort of being here, it feels lovely to be home.
How are you finding life in Spain, you’ve been there for a couple of years now – does it feel like home?
Yeah, it does! One of the reasons I live there is because the Spanish are so similar to the Irish. I really do feel at home there, the only difference is that we’ve sun and it’s a lot warmer [laughs]. You can roam the streets all year round, the architecture and culture is amazing. People are very open and they’re very family-orientated.
Living there with the warmer climate, are you more conscious now about looking after your skin? Absolutely, and it’s much easier to make mistakes.
I always need to have sun cream on because I burn quite fast. I never did when I was a kid, but I’ve found as I get older, I burn quicker. I think it’s also the dryness and the altitude of Madrid which adds to that. Recently I’ve been caught out and turn a little bit red, even if I’m only out for ten minutes. I’m usually very careful with my skincare.
Is that one of the reasons why you got involved with the launch of No7 Future Renew which focuses on damage reversal?
Yeah! I’ve had lots of fun over the last few weeks trialling these new products. Skincare is super important to me, it always has been. My mother always taught me to look after your skin because you keep it for the rest of your life! I’m really liking this collection! It feels really nice on the skin and it’s a lovely base under your makeup too!
Given your career in the spotlight, what’s the best piece of beauty advice you’ve picked up over the years?
Honestly, tonnes of sleep! That’s number one. Exercise would be a great idea but at the minute I’m not doing an awful lot of that. Plenty of water too and I’ve had a lot of ginger as well to balance my PH levels in my body and it tends to help with your skin a lot.
Tell us Sharon, you’re back on the road but do you have any gigs lined up for Ireland?
I’ve a lot of solo work coming up very soon across the UK and, in October I’ll be in Manila, Australia and New Zealand with The Corrs. I’m hoping Irish shows will be sometime next year.
How are you feeling about getting the band back together?
We have a magic together and we should be doing it. It’s the right thing and the right time!
