The premiere of Shane MacGowen’s new documentary, A Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds with Shane MacGowan, was a star-studded event, and the singer is thanking the attendees.

The Pogues’ frontman held the screening at the Light House Cinema in Smithfield this week and his close friend and Hollywood star, Johnny Depp was in attendance to support his pal. Flying in all the way from LA to support Shane, the gesture was clearly appreciated as Shane took to Instagram to thank The Pirate’s of the Caribbean actor.

Posting a picture of himself, Johnny, and Shane’s wife Victoria Mary Clarke Angels. He captioned the post, “Thank you brother @johnnydepp for making the journey to Dublin to see me and Victoria, we needed a night out! Love you and come again very soon!”

The pair have been friends for around 30 years, after meeting during a pool game. Another friend who got a shout out was Love/Hate star Robert Sheehan. Shane shared more snaps from the night, including one with himself and the Misfits star.

Captioning the post, “With Robert Sheehan (@rozzymikes) at the @crockofgoldfilm party last night 💚”

He also thanked plenty of the other attendees, including Game of Thrones star Aidan Gillen, Hidden Assets’ Peter Coonan, his sister Siobhan, musician Camille O’Sullivan, singer Johnny Cronin, and the film’s co-creator Julien Temple.

The film dives into Shane’s life, his journey to stardom, and his impact on Irish music. Using archival footage and interviews from Johnny Depp, Gerry Adams, and Bono. The event was also a promotion of his new book, The Eternal Buzz and the Crock of Gold.

The book will contain unseen art, photography and unpublished writings by Shane and is set to cost around £5,000 and will include a certificate of ownership and a handwritten note from the musician.

It will be released April, with a limit number of only 1,000 for sale.
