Seven family friendly events around this country this Easter

With Easter just around the corner, it’s time to start planning those Easter days out to make the break from school just a little more special.

And to help plan those trips out, we have rounded up some of the best activities that the whole family can get involved with, and who knows, you might just walk away with joyful memories and some chocolate surprises.

The Easter Express at Oakfield – Co. Donegal


From April 3rd to 6th, Oakfield will be transformed into a world of magic Easter fun, with activities that the whole family will love.

To kick off your day of fun, Oakfield will be running an Easter train ride throughout the park. Along this ride, you will get the chance to see the stunning Donegal scenery, with a chance for the little ones to see Easter characters. Af

ter the ride, you are welcome to join their Easter egg hunt that is full of fun twists and turns. The day trip to Oakfield also has the chance for kids (and big kids) to get involved with some arts and crafts, or a hedge maze if challenges are your thing.

The Easter express is open from 12-6pm with hourly slots available. Booking is required with tickets starting at €75.95 for a four-person chamber on the train.

Easter family adventure at Kildare Farm Foods – Co. Kildare


The Easter bunny is making an appearance this Easter at Kildare Food Farms.

With the Farm Shop Express taking you on a tour of the farm, your family can get a chance to meet the Easter Bunny himself, along with the adorable residents of the farm.

After the tour, why not pop by the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party for a little sing song and a boogie. If seeing the Easter Bunny is too cool for the older ones, the ticket entry allows full access to all the other attractions on the farm. From crazy golf to a virtual river rapids Rollercoaster and plenty of cafes, there is something for everyone!

Tickets cost €10.

Belvedere House Garden and Park – Co. Westmeath


Belvedere House Garden and Park has a wide range of Easter events from April 4th to 6th. With a mobile pet farm, kids and grown-ups get the chance to have some time with the cutest animals from pigs, chickens and everything in between. If animals aren’t your family’s thing, there is an Easter trail taking place throughout the stunning gardens.

This trail isn’t like the others, filled with festive surprises and themed activities, it is sure to be “eggcellent”. And if your little ones want to develop a new skill, Belvedere House are offering circus workshop experiences. Your day in Belvedere doesn’t need to end there, with four amazing play areas and a 30-minute zipline; the fun can continue.

These events are ticketed, costing €5-10.

Easter Teidi Trails at GAA Museum – Co. Dublin

From April 2nd to 6th, the GAA Museum is bringing back its teddy bear making workshops.

The crafting afternoon means kids can make their own teddy bears that they can take home with them, before joining in on a family-friendly guided tour of the historic Croke Park stadium. Historic facts and fun crafts – what more could you ask for this easter!

Tickets cost €32 per child, with adult tickets starting at €10.

Rathwood Easter Panto – Co. Carlow

If you want something different this Easter, why not pop by the big tent at Rathwood, where they will be hosting an Easter panto. With music, dance, and laughter guaranteed, it’s sure to be a terrific day out for the family.

And to make the day extra special, you can join in on an Easter egg hunt and might even get the chance to see the Easter Bunny.

The panto runs from March 28th to April 5th with tickets costing between €15.50 and €18.95.

Craft workshop at Siamsa Tíre Theatre and Arts Centre – Co. Kerry

Across the Easter break, the Siamsa Tíre Theatre is hosting two craft workshop events. Kicking off on April 2nd, kids aged 5 and up can partake in an Easter puppet-making class hosted by professional puppeteer Alex Hindmarsh.

On April 9th, kids aged 6-10 will get the chance to join Amy Smith from Tralee Pottery Club to make and decorate the mini-Easter Bunny houses, perfect decoration to add to your spring home.

Tickets for these craft workshops are €13.50.

Turlough Park – Co. Mayo

Easter fun is taking over Turlough Park this break, with an Easter craft workshop hosted by Isolde Dingerus.

Running over two days, March 31st to April 1st, the art workshop will be a hands-on experience inspired by seasonal traditions.

During the workshop, museum educators will teach the group all about the old customs, while kids can make festive decorations or cards. This is a free ticketed event!
