Seven events taking place around the country this Culture Night

Culture Night 2024 will take place this Friday 20th of September following a very successful year in 2023. Culture Night 2023 saw 1.2 million people take part in events across the country celebrating the music and arts that contribute to the wonderful and rich culture of our Emerald Isle.

Without our culture we would have nothing to celebrate so this Culture Night the Arts Council is encouraging people to embrace their culture by attending cultural events in their area. Whether you live in a buzzing town or city or a rural Gaeltacht it is time to show your
grá for the arts this Friday night.

Here’s a roundup of some of the unmissable events taking place this culture night.

Banshees Brass Band – Merrion Hotel

If you fancy wining and dining with a jazzy quintet serenading away in the background, then the Merrion Hotel’s Cellar Bar is the place to be this Friday night.

Dublin-based brass band, The Banshee Brass, will start their set at 6pm on Friday, September 20th , playing a mixture of jazz, folk, pop hits and classical tunes. The music will carry on until 8pm. The event promises to be a “vibrant and accessible performance for all”.

If you are looking to dabble in your creativeness this Culture Night, then you must visit The Dublin Painting and Sketching Clubs exhibition.

The exhibition features works by its eighty members and live painting demonstrations will be happening on Friday night. The event takes place at 1 Windmill Lane from 4pm till 8pm.

Lumina – Galway


If are out for the night this Culture Night be sure to stop off at the Lumina, an outdoor artistic production show at Tuam Cathedral.

According to the Culture Night website: “This breathtaking nighttime spectacle will captivate audiences as the facade of the Tuam Cathedral is transformed into a canvas of light and sound through projections and live choral performances.”

The event begins at 9:30pm.

Way Of The West X Connolly’s of Leap – Cork


If you are looking for a night filled with amazing music, then you should most definitely hit up Connolly’s of Leap. The cult music venue in West Cork is hosting a late-night event with Way Of The West.

The spectacular lineup includes DJ Darren Emerson, JFDR, Little O and many more. The event begins at 9pm and is expected to continue into the early hours.

Top 8 Culture Night Late – Limerick


If street dancing and hip hop are right up your alley, then you simply must go and watch this bunch of dancers pop it, lock it, polka dot it in Limerick City.

The first event at Dance Limerick will include a variety of dancing genres like K.R.U.M.P X Irish dance, Afro dance X Contemporary, Hip Hop X Ballet. After being mesmerised by the talented dancers it’s time to move on to the Commercial Bar to listen to some DJs spin some Tunes.

City Sounds – Dublin City


Calling all techno lovers!

Watch Ireland’s electronic music scene come to life in the capital this culture night. Rise Up Sound System along with artists T-Woc, JWY and Jonzey are ready to get the tunes pumping at central plaza at 9pm on Friday night. Get ready to hit the dance floor with a mixture of “Afro/Caribbean inspired riddims” and some “dance floor oddities and grooves” from these incredible DJs.

The festival favourite sound system, Bang Bike, will be making their presence known on another immersive dance floor on Essex Street and be sure to stop by Capel Street to see what Interruption are up to.

Guinness Storehouse Symphony features Dublin’s pre-eminent orchestra, Glasshouse Ensemble, alongside an exciting line-up of special guests spanning music, dance and visual arts.

This complimentary ticketed event for Culture Night 2024 will see Glasshouse Ensemble’s 30-piece orchestra take stage in the Home of Guinness reimagining classic hits and new chart toppers alike.

The Orchestra will be accompanied by some very special performers; Gemma Dunleavy, Toshín, Qbanaa, and Soda Blonde’s Faye O’Rourke. The one-of-a-kind musical journey will be accented by a visual spectacular from acclaimed live experience designer Kev Freeney.

If you can’t make it out this culture night be sure to tune into RTE One, RTE Player and 2FM who will be broadcasting plenty of music and events going on throughout the day and night.
