Saoirse-Monica Jackson’s new BBC crime drama is finally here, and fans are loving it!

The Derry native stars in the hotly anticipated eight-part series, This City Is Ours, opposite a well-known cast including actor Sean Bean.

However, she’s not the only Irish person to represent us as it turns out Irish director John Hayes (Nightsleeper, Dublin Murders) is behind the lens for some of the episodes with Saul Dibb.

The series centers on Michael, a man who has spent his entire adult life involved in organised crime, working alongside his friend and gang leader, Ronnie.

But when Ronnie hints at retirement, Michael starts to envision a different future, especially after falling in love with Diana. For the first time, he sees a life with something to win and something to lose.

As Michael’s crime empire begins to crumble, the series delves into the disintegration of his gang, particularly when a crucial cocaine shipment goes missing, signaling that their kingdom is under attack.

Meanwhile, Ronnie’s son, Jamie, aims to inherit control of the gang, sparking a fierce battle between him and Michael, both of whom have bold ideas to modernise the organisation.

Taking to Instagram to mark the release of the new show, Saoirse-Monica posted a behind-the-scenes photo of her and her castmates.

“This City is Ours is out now on @bbciplayer. I love Liverpool, I loved this cast and crew, and I really REALLY loved doing a dance routine with Sean Bean,” she captioned her post.

Fans are already praising the show, with one following commenting: “Brilliant, I’ve binged it and you are great in it.”

While another penned: “I absolutely love this series. You are all amazing in it. Can’t stop talking about it.”

This City Is Ours is available to watch on BBC and BBC iPlayer now.
