The tv adaptation of Sally Ronney’s Normal People is set to air on RTE this spring.
The 12-part series based on her hit novel, follows the tale of two young people, Marianne (Daisy Edgar Jones) and Connell (Paul Mescal), both from Sligo, and their complicated relationship.
It begins with them in their final year of school as they study for their Leaving Cert, right through to their time at Trinity College.
Irish actress Sarah Greene will play the role of Connell’s mum Lorraine, and previously revealed fans of the book will adore the show.
“It’s really true to them [the books],” she said. “Sally is heavily involved in the writing of the show, she has written the first few episodes.”
The series, directed by Oscar nominee Lenny Abrahamson, was filmed in Dublin, Sligo, Sweden and Italy over the last number of months – and we can’t wait to see how it looks.
