Having your birthday during lockdown is not ideal, but for Ryan Tubridy he was lucky enough to be interviewing Ireland’s President, Michael D Higgins, on his, so he got to spend it at Áras an Uachtaráin.
Ryan, who turned 47 yesterday was interviewing him for The Late Late Show, and of course took some behind the scenes pictures featuring the President’s infamous dogs. Sharing the snaps to Instagram Ryan said; “Paws for a selfie… #àrasofapproval #hotdog”
The interview, which was filmed from a safe social distance in the garden of Áras an Uachtaráin will air on this evening’s show at 9.35pm. The interview is set to be an interesting one, as Ryan described Michael D as “full of passion, vim and vigour.”
This is the last show of the season for The Late Late, until it restarts later in the year. The producers of the show have done a fantastic job at adapting to new government guidelines regarding gatherings and social distancing measures.
We have seen the show have to adjust quickly to social distant guests, video link interviews, as well as no audience. It has been interesting to watch, and we hope things are back to normal by the time they start filming again.
