Ryan Tubridy has recounted the hilarious experience of getting mistaken for Dermot Bannon in a bar recently.
The Late Late Show host was speaking at RTE’s new season launch ahead of the return of the popular talk show, when he revealed that he and his RTE colleague are quite often likened to each other.
“I was in the pub about two weeks ago, and this girl came up to me and she said ‘oh my god, I love you,” Ryan laughed.
“She was from New York. So I went ‘jeez…’ and she says ‘you’re Dermot Bannon right?’
“My jaw-dropped. I said ‘I’m not… but I will tell you this much. I know Dermot a little bit and he will LOVE this story.
“She came back later on with her Irish friend who said ‘she’s so embarrassed.”
Luckily enough both Ryan and Dermot were both able to see the funny side.
