Ryan Tubridy and national sweetheart Adam King finally shared a real-life embrace this weekend, as the pair attended an Ireland game.
Adam shot to fame and straight into the nation’s heart when he appeared on the 2020 Late Late Toy Show. On the night Adam shared his ‘virtual hug’ idea with the audience and viewers, holding up a sign he made with the words ‘A hug for you’ written on it. The idea is that during the COVID 19 restrictions when everyone must keep 2 meters apart, Adam could hold his sign up as a way to embrace someone while still sticking to the rules.
Now, with restrictions lifted 2 years later, Adam and Ryan finally got the chance to swap their virtual hug for a real-life one on Saturday. Sharing the moment on Twitter Adams father wrote:
“Look who we met at the @AVIVAStadium @FAIreland game! And after 2 years and all the lockdowns – finally – a real hug. What a lovely moment.”
While Ryan shared what the moment meant for him on his Instagram.
“As Adam’s Dad said, this hug was over two years, five Late Late Show appearances and a great friendship in the making. A golden moment”
Chatting about the golden moment on The Ryan Tubridy Show on RTÉ this week, Ryan added:
“The two of us had our first ever hug, it was very emotional, very beautiful and a very kind moment. David took the picture and it’s gorgeous, so that was lovely”
