RTE presenter Ryan Tubridy has joked that he narrowly escaped death this week following a freak accident at a Dublin burger joint.
Tubs was dining at the popular Bunsen Burger on South Anne Street in Dublin with colleagues on Wednesday when the incident took place.
Revealed during a Facebook Live chat on RTÉ One’s Facebook page, The Late Late Show presenter said he had a lucky escape while dining out with colleagues.
“Just as we moved seats, a bang hit the window upstairs, the window smashed and there was a hold in the window, turns out the awning outside the front had broken and the pole that was holding the awning had whipped around and where I’d been sitting was just here (pointing to beside his head) so I could have died!” he said.
Ok, he may have been exaggerating, but he did agree that he could have been seriously hurt, and may have had to present this week’s Late Late Show with a black eye.
“No, I’m just joking. I could have ended up with glass in my face which would have been a good look, or a pole in my eye which would have been…. imagine doing a show with a black eye and then all the rumours? No one was sitting there thankfully. Everything’s fine.
“It’s just an aul sceal, one of those bizarre things, something exciting in my life. But the burger was delicious!”
Bunsen has yet to comment, but we have to agree with Tubs – they’re pretty damn good!
