Ruth O’Neill has slammed claims that she left Xpose because she was unhappy with her salary.
The Dubliner announced that she was leaving the entertainment show after just one year on Monday.
Speaking to the Irish Sun, Ruth explained her decision to exit the show: “I want to stress this is completely my own decision. I handed in my notice. I just feel it’s time to move on and keep developing my skills more.”
However, reports surfaced today contradicting that statement. A source revealed to a Sunday newspaper that Ruth “was on a pay scale of just over €30,000 and she hopes to earn a lot more with her new move.”
Ruth has hit back at theses claims, saying her departure had “nothing to do with money”.
“And the salary they quoted is substantially less than what I was actually on. It’s totally inaccurate,” she told Independent.ie.
The model went on to reaffirm that the real reason she left the show was so that she could try her hand at something new.
“Work has been brilliant, it’s ticked all the boxes but at the end of the day I just really want to try something new.” she said.
“I’ve developed so many new skills working at Xpose. I’ve had such incredible opportunities. I’ve really been so lucky and I’m not leaving with any regrets.
“But I just feel that I need to try something new.”
