Ruth Langsford has revealed that she demanded the same pay as her This Morning co-presenter Eamonn Holmes.
Though viewers might have assumed that two being doing the same job would be paid equally, it turns out Ruth had to fight for it!
“I insist now on being paid the same. I insist now that I do. But as we all know, in the past I’ve worked not just with Eamonn,” she told The Sun.
While issues of gender equality are sometimes hard to detect because people won’t discuss their salary, Ruth has the advantages of working alongside her partner!
“The thing is you don’t normally discuss your pay when you’re a co-presenter, but obviously I do with my husband because he’s my husband.”
She adds: “I basically wouldn’t work for them if they weren’t paying me the same if I’m doing the same job, whether I’m with my husband or any other male co-presenter.”
Ruth has been keeping busy lately with a recent stint on Strictly Come Dancing, along with Loose Woman and This Morning among others.
“I’m 58 this year and I’ve actually got more work in the past two years than I’ve had in my whole career,” she said.
