Ruth Langsford has offered her heartfelt condolences and support to Love Island’s Dr Alex George following the sudden death of his brother.

Alex’s brother sadly passed away last week, and his family are struggling to comprehend the loss.

Sharing a picture of the pair, Dr Alex said, “I have lost my beautiful little brother to mental health.

“I love you so much Llŷr. The kindest and most caring soul. I was so proud of you starting medical school next month, you would have been the most incredible doctor.

“We are hurting so bad. No words can explain. As a family we are devastated. We love you and miss you so much. Please rest in peace.”

Ruth, who also sadly lost her sister Julia last year, offered to be there for Alex in any way she can.

“Alex I am so, so sorry for your tragic loss. I lost my sister to mental health last year so I understand the pain and shock you and your family will be feeling,” she said.

“I send you the hugest of hugs and if you ever need to talk you know how to reach me. My condolences to you and your family and may your darling brother rest in peace.”

Following her sister’s death last summer, Ruth, who was overcome with grief,  didn’t think she’d be able to return to the set of This Morning, or any of the other shows she works on, and wanted to quit her tv career.

Speaking to Best Magazine, she said: “It seemed wrong to be cheery on screen, when, inside, my heart was breaking.”

She reveals her husband helped her through the incredibly difficult time, and begged her to keep going.

“Eamonn pointed out that he was, in effect, losing not one, but two of the most precious people in his life – Julia and me,” she said.

“He showed me how I had so much to live for in Julia’s memory – and beyond. He pleaded with me not to let it win, by ruining everything I had achieved – and still had to celebrate.”

At the time of Julia’s passing, Ruth paid an emotional tribute to her sister, sharing her love and adoration.

“My heart is completely broken,” she said. “She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever.”
