RTE will air Marian Finucane’s funeral, as it takes place this afternoon.
The acclaimed broadcaster, who passed away peacefully in her family home last week, will be laid to rest today.
The funeral, taking place in St. Brigid’s Church, Kill, at 12 noon, will be shown on RTE News Now. Following the mass, there will be a private burial.
Marian first started working with RTE in the late ‘70s, and continued to do so up until the time of her passing.
The broadcaster will be missed by family, friends, colleagues, and thousands of fans around the country.
Paying tribute to Marian, Joe Duffy said, “She was the voice of reason on the national airwaves for 40 years. Fair, welcoming, reassuring, trusting and trusted, charming yet inquisitive she was a unique broadcaster.”
Rory Cowan added, “Marian was fabulous. She interviewed me a few months ago on her show. It was my first interview after my book was released. She was lovely.
While Keelin Shanley said, “She was a hero to me, the most skillful interviewer, with endless curiosity and wicked humour.”
