Colleagues of Joe Duffy have paid tribute to the RTÉ star this week as he mourned the loss of his mother, Mabel. Both Ryan Tubridy and Clare Byrne were in attendance at her funeral today, along with many of his other RTÉ colleagues.
The Liveline presenter his absent from his how this week, with RTÉ’s Katie Hannon filling in for him for the time being. Yesterday she shared her condolences on the shoe on behalf of herself and the entire Liveline team.
She said; “As many of you know, Joe’s mother, Mabel Duffy died yesterday. Joe talked about his mother a lot when he was in this seat over the years, so many of you feel you know her.”
Continuing she added; “Listeners have been in touch already to let Joe know that you’re thinking of him and his family today. I’m sure all his listeners will join with us, the Liveline team, in sending our condolences to Joe and his siblings James, Joseph, Peter, Brendan and Pauline and all the grandchildren and wider family at this sad time.”
His mother, Mabel tragically passed away earlier this week at the age of 92 with Joe’s management company, NK Management announcing the sad news on social media.
In a short statement, alongside a picture of Joe with his beloved Mam they said; ‘It is with great sadness that NK Management announce the passing of Joe Duffy’s beloved mother, Mabel (92) on Sunday afternoon in Kiltipper Woods Care Centre surrounded by her loving family.”
The Liveline presenter’s father, Jimmy Duffy passed away in 1984. Our thoughts are with Joe and his family at this sad time.
