One of the reasons we love Roz Purcell is how open she is on social media. The model and cookbook author frequently posts about body positivity and mental health issues in an honest and engaging way. Over the weekend, she shared a fantastic post about using her platform to fight racism.

Since Friday our social media feeds have been flooded with people speaking out against the death of George Floyd last week. Not only that, but people have been sharing the many ways you can educate yourself on systematic racism and addressing your own white privilege.

Roz Purcell has also chimed in, as she called herself out for not addressing this issue sooner.

“I’m here to call myself out for not doing better. Something I should have been more vocal about in the past. I’m sorry. The last few days have woken me up to realise I need to educate myself more, actively share how we can fight racism and use my white privilege to be an active ally.”

As people around the world use their platforms to speak about this issue she said; “Last year I said I would continue with social media because it was better to be in the room and have something to say than out of it and say nothing.

“And I think right now, more than ever, if you have a voice you cannot be silent. I’m not here for kudos, this should be normal practice for influencers to influence positively and stand up.”
