Roz Purcell has hit out at anyone that thinks she’s just a pretty face.
The Tipperary native has had a successful modelling career since she won Miss Universe Ireland five years ago and has since branched out with a food blog and an upcoming book.
Hitting out at the haters, she said: “I don’t really pay attention to anyone who would think that [I’m only a model]. I think I am a bit oblivious to any of that.
“I am at that age where I realise it is probably small mindedness and wouldn’t take it personally.”
She said budding models should not be “consumed” by the glitz and glamour.
“My advice [to young models] would be to be smart and listen to your peers who have been in the industry for a while,” she said.
“I think it is important to enjoy the process – modelling can open so many doors and bring lots of travel and opportunity, but at the same time remember not to let it consume you. Always prepare for the next step.”
Roz is certainly a woman of her word and has high ambitions to take her expertise stateside to work under top American chefs.
“I would love to go back to New York,” she told Image.ie.
