Rosie Connoly has opened up about suffering post-natal depression, following the birth of her two children.
The Irish influencer, who is mum to five-year-old Harry and 11-month-old Remi, revealed she has struggled with her mental health on and off for a couple of years.
Some months after her daughter’s arrival, Rosie began noticing the signs of PND return.
“At the end of last year I started to really struggle with my head again. After I had Harry, I took a dip and I was conscious of it this time,” she said.
“I had Remi in February and felt amazing, but about six months after I had her, I saw the signs of it all coming back.
“I was going through a bit of a crappy time. Work was the only thing that got me out of bed in the morning a lot of time.”
While visiting her GP for a routine check-up with Remi, the new mum broke down in tears.
“I reached a breaking point,” she said. “Everyone suffers differently when it comes to postnatal depression and anxiety. It was bigger than me and I needed that extra bit of help.
“I went back on my medication and feel 100 times better. It’s what I needed then, and what I need right now.
She continued, “I feel like me. I feel happy and I can think straight and cope with day-to-day stuff that I wasn’t coping with.
“If you do anything this year, make 2020 the year you look after your head. Your mind is so important. Mind it, and talk to someone if you can.
“If you feel like you need a little bit of help, just get up, make the appointment and go – you’ll feel 100 times better.”
