Maria Walsh has revealed that she’d like to become a gay wedding planner. The Rose of Tralee winner, who was the first openly lesbian woman to wear the crown, is currently in talks with RTE – however she would also like to tap into her business side with weddings.”The entrepreneurial side of my brain also needs to work so I think there’s a nice little €20m revenue outlet because of same-sex marriage in terms of wedding planning and that’s what my background is in, event management,” she said.
“I think Ireland is an unknown land in terms of location and scenery and my background is photography. I’m trying to find a project where I can marry everything I learned this year as Rose of Tralee with my previous life experience,” she told the Star.
Meanwhile, the 56th International Rose of Tralee got underway last night with Maria revealing she feels emotional as she prepares to hand over her crown. “I have loved every minute, it’s been an incredible year!” she said.
