Rory Cowan has revealed he won’t be celebrating Christmas this year.
The actor is going through a difficult time at the moment as his mum is suffering with dementia and feels the festivities would be too disorientating for her.
“This Christmas, I won’t have one,” he told TVNow Magazine.
“Up until recently I had Christmas in my mother’s with all the family, but since she has become bedridden and doesn’t know what time of year it is, I haven’t had a Christmas.
“On Christmas Day I will visit her and then afterwards I’ll visit my sister and her family and exchange gifts there.
“Then, I’ll go home and go to bed early. I live on my own so I’m not going to buy a turkey and all the trimmings.”
Rory is staring in Polly and the Beanstalk this winter in the Olympia Theatre, and will be using the festive period to relax before jumping back into shows after Christmas.
“I only have Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off, so I’ll rest up on both days,” he said.
