Republic of Telly star Joanne McNally made some controversial comments on Midday today when she agreed with Katie Price’s views about aborting her son.

During an interview on Loose Women earlier in the week, Katie revealed that she would have thought about aborting her son had she known about his disabilities when she first found out she was pregnant.

Katie was 24 when her son Harvey was born with a rare condition called Prader-Willi syndrome, and now at the age of 13, he has since been diagnosed with ADHD, autism and blindness.

The model went on to say that at the time she feared she’d have been unable to cope, but wouldn’t dream of aborting a child with disabilities now at the age of 37.

Reflecting on Katie’s views, Joanne McNally said, “I would have done the same. I honestly think I would have done the same.

“If I knew at 23 that I was pregnant with a child with all these ailments and disabilities, honestly, I probably would have done the same,” she said.

Andrea Hayes who was hosting the show today replied saying, “So you think it’s okay to place a lesser value on a person’s life just because you have found out…”

Before Joanne interjected, “No, that’s not what I said. Like what Katie said, it’s because of the unknown – would i have been able to cope? The effect it has on my siblings, my family, the child itself.”

The tv star replaced Jennifer Maguire last year in the popular RTE show last year, after Jen left to work on a spin-off series of Bridget And Eamon with Bernard O’Shea.
