Listeners around the country have expressed their delight as Sarah McInerney hit the airwaves to replace Sean O’Rourke’s RTE Radio 1 slot.

And it seems that listeners could sense her ease, as social media was awash with messages of positivity for the journalist.
Taking to Twitter to express their delight, many fans messaged Sarah with words of encouragement.
“Absolutely terrific this morning… for me no comparison with Miriam,”one wrote.

‘Refreshing to hear a new young able presenter Sarah McInerney bring a new energy to the programme. Calm, tolerant and authoritative without the avuncular high blood pressure.’

‘Sarah McInerney is an excellent presenter and broadcaster, refreshing voice on the airwaves. Great replacement for Sean O’Rourke, hope it is permanent,’ tweeted another.
Just last week, Sean O’Rourke announced that he would be stepping down from his mid-morning Today Show slot, following his decision to retire after 25 years with the broadcasting network.
It was then shortly after announced that Sarah McInerney would be temporarily filling the slot until Autumn when a permanent replacement will take over.
However, given the delight fans are sharing with Sarah taking over the temporary spot, it may well be Sarah who fills the permanent role at the end of summer.
Well done Sarah!
