Enjoying some rare time off, Ray D’Arcy headed to Waterford with his wife and kids for a week of fun.
They spent some time in the gorgeous Dunmore East, and Ray reveals they were sure to practice social distancing measures wherever possible.
On his return, Ray told listeners: “I think that is the longest holiday I have had in a very long time, one week and three days. It was good to be away and it is great to be back.
“I was on the greenway last Sunday morning and I think I was obeying all the rules because I don’t live in Kildare anymore, I live in Dublin.
“I was down in Waterford, which isn’t on lockdown, and I was exercising social distancing.”
While away, the presenter was approached by two people, who thought he was a doppelgänger.
“I was in the sea in Dunmore East and someone said to me ‘You look very like your man Ray D’Arcy’ and this woman said ‘Yes you do, you could be a double for him’,” he laughed.
“And I said ‘I wouldn’t say there is much need for Ray D’Arcy look-a-likes’ and then she winked and your man said ‘You are probably right there’ and he swam off.”
During his staycation, Kathryn Thomas and Brenda Donoghue took over the show, and he couldn’t be more grateful for them stepping in.
“Thanks so much to Kathryn and Brenda for keeping the seat warm over the last few weeks,” he beamed.
“I have to admit that I feel like I haven’t done this before. And you are shouting at the radio saying, ‘You always sound like you haven’t do it before Ray’.”
